I don't know where to start! First, our room rate couldn't be beat. For the price, I didn't believe the pics were true. But the hotel was great. Really comfy beds, clean property, friendly staff. The concierge(s) help plan a very special birthday for my boyfriend all planned via email. They were great. We loved the location, easy walk to the river & mag mile. Would absolutely stay here again... And I'm really picky.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Allegro. It was the perfect location and within walking distance to many great sites. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed his stay and we were all treated very well by the staff. The bed was very cozy and it was a great room for the price. I would def recommend this hotel!

Other reviewers commented that the rooms are small which is true,but that didn't bother us at all. The king size bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was small but had all of the conveniences we could ask for and the flat screen TV and wifi provided all of the technology we needed. The location is excellent - in the heart of the theatre district of Chicago and around the corner from LaSalle Street, the business capital of the city. We were able to walk everywhere from this location! Our daughter is a student at the Art Institute in Chicago and we will visit her regularly. We complimented the staff when we checked out and assured them that we would return.

Loved the "wine reception" in the lobby. We were supposed to have a King size bed, but definately did not. Kind of small room but sufficient. Loved the decor..very trendy and modern lobby!!

Hotel was great! Staff was very helpful and hotel is centrally located. The room I stayed in was a bit small but ok sice I was staying by myself.

I was impressed with the hotel as soon as I arrived as it looked exactly like the pictures i had seen. Staff were so helpful. Something which impressed me was that every member of staff had their favourite movie on their name badge which was a unique talking point! The room decor was very modern and clean. Had heard comments before hand that they weren't very big but I thought for the price and the number of people the size of the room was ample. There was also a daily wine hour which meant you could try different wines and also meet other people living at the hotel. The hotel also put some nibbles out whilst this was going on. Location was great and meant that walking around the city was easy for most of the locations you would want to visit! This hotel is fantastic gem in an amazing location- would definately return to this hotel and other Kimpton hotels around the US.

I am a writer by profession, so the last thing I want to do socially is write. However, my experience at Hotel Allegro was too wonderful to not put pen to pad. Hotel Allegro was a beautiful hotel with a wonderful staff. Semalia at the front desk gave exceptional customer service, the location was ideal and the room was breathtaking. I upgraded to a suite upon my arrival, and I could not have asked for more! If you are in the Chicago area, looking for a regal experience and can afford the upgrade, by all means, check into a suite at Hotel Allegro, and be taken away! I will be back in Chicago in 2 weeks and I've already booked my reservation. Hope to see you there :-)

I stayed at the Hotel Allegro for 11 days to look for an apartment because I recently moved to Chicago for educational reasons. I got a good price through Hotel.com. The hotel is located in the heart of downtown so you can walk around to find cafe and restaurants on every corner or you can take the Metra, buses, or CTA to anywhere you like. Millennium Park is like 7 or 8 blocks away. I highly recommend Hotel Allegro. It's not very expensive and the service is 5 stars.

My experience was wonderful at the Hotel Allegro! The parking was staff was friendly and although expensive, it wasn't any "worse" than the rest of the area. I was disappointed about the food. Room service was friendly and prompt. However, my omelette wasn't hot. Also, we make better omelettes at home, but maybe we are just good cooks. I had higher expectations from the hotel cooks. However, The coffee was wonderful. It was full bodied and robust. The evening wine service was also wonderful. Very nice wines. Overall, the hotel was friendly, funky, and in a great location! We walked to everything- except late into the night when we took a six dollar cab ride!

EVERY aspect of our stay was FABULOUS! From the doorman's greeting when we arrived to putting us into a cab back to the airport and EVERYTHING in between, it was GREAT! The Wine Reception is a lovely touch.

We were very inmpressed with Hotel Allegro. The price was very reasonable. The rooms, although on the small side, are nicely furnished. The beds are super comfortable, and the rooms quiet. It is within walking distance of all the theatres and plenty of places to eat. There is a lovely wine reception from 5-6 in the beautiful Art Deco lobby. We will definately stay there on our next visit to Chicago.

It was a great hotel for the price we paid - a discounted rate. Parking fees were expensive.

The room was small but what else do you need a hotel room for other than sleeping and showering?

All staff members were extremely nice, helpful, and warm! It was a pleasure to talk to them. I had one of the suites, which was clean, spacious, and very beautifully decorated. The wine reception the offer every afternoon is amazing - the wine is very good, and they also serve delicious finger foods from the restaurant next door - "312".

Couldn't ask for a better location if you have business downtown. The room was fine, although I'll agree they are a bit small. have to remember it's a historic hotel. The wine reception was nice too!

for the money i paid they could have went to kmart and paid an extra 10 dollars on better pillows and where r the freakin outlets

Wow, I was wowed from the minute I got there. First time stay at a kimpton hotel and the hotel Allegro exceeded my expectations in every way. The service and care given was incredible. The consiegere was so helpful and a lot fo fun. The wine party was fun, and the encore bar rocked. Thanks for a great stay, I'll be back and will tell friends!!

Some people on here have said the rooms were quite small.. I guess I could understand that if you were holed up in it the entire time you were there, but my husband and I had no issues with it. We were there to sleep and shower and that was pretty much it. The staff was wonderful and the wine reception they have is great! We will definitely stay at this hotel again, and will seek out other Kimpton hotels the next time we travel

A coffee pot in the room would have been appreciated, but overall the room was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and accomodating. Two of the three elevators seemed to be experiencing technical difficulties continuously over the three days I stayed, but otherwise the hotel was well maintained and had a pleasant atmosphere.

This was our second stay at Hotel Allegro. We love the location and are able to walk anywhere from there. Entering the hotel we could feel a sense of calm and peacefulness, much needed after our day of flying and the day of sight seeing. Everyone that works for the hotel was courteous, helpful and patient. :) The concierge helped us plan our day in Chicago, my son's first trip, which was a huge success! I can't say enough complimentary about the Hotel Allegro experience.

I enjoyed my one night stay in this hotel. It was a nice swanky place to stay and wasnt too hard to find. The parking is absolutely terrible, but that is the only down side. The rooms are small, but have all the necessary amenities, afterall who goes to chicago for the hotel? Nonetheless, this is a hotel I would and do definitely plan on staying at when I go back to Chicago.

My hotel room was very small but clean and comfortable. I was traveling alone so the space was fine but if another person would have been with me, it would have been difficult. The location is wonderful if you are doing theater and the neighborhood is very fun.

Great hotel for a convienent downtown stay.

I'd stay here again if I plan to go to the theater or if I'm not alone. My only complaint (besides the tiny bathroom and closet) is that on returning to the hotel at 10:30PM on Sunday evening, there wasn't a soul on the street for 3 blocks and I started feeling very uncomfortable walking alone. When I reached the hotel, the lobby was also deserted except for 1 doorman in a vestibule who didn't seem to notice me entering. That experience was disconcerting, but the hotel is clean, well appointed, with wonderful Aveda toiletries.

Such a beautiful city and hotel is so central that we walked everywhere. Very clean hotel with great service. Rooms are more than adequate in size. Will stay here again.

I used to stay at the Hotel Allegro often because of its funky room and great staff. While the staff continues to be strong, the recent remodeling job has taken away from the hotel. Some of the warmth is gone. The neighborhood is good if you are going to the theater or an event at the Merchandise Mart. Other than that, there's not much nearby. And why in the world is the hotel bar closed on Sunday? Overall, it continues to be a nice hotel, just not as nice as it was.

Rooms and bathrooms were on the small side, but a room with two doubles had plenty of space for my daughter and I. The hotel was clean, very modern and fun.

The hotel is in a great location in downtown Chicago. However, the good news just about stops there. The hotel room was decently clean except for the used cue tips that were left in the bathroom. The worst part of the hotel is the elevator system. We spent 5-10 minutes waiting for an elevator on multiple occasions. We took the stairs down a couple of times from the 9th floor, but I wasn't really in the mood to take them up. The view wasn't very great and the room is quite small, but what can you expect from such a busy city. Parking is quite expensive as well. Next time I will try another hotel.

We loved the Hotel Allegro. It is a busy hotel and is contemporary and stylish.Very hip. The rooms are small but that didn't matter to us at all. Best concierge service ever! State Street area-theater district so good location if you are going to see a show. Also walking distance to parks. State Street shopping and good restaurant choices also within walking distance. Michigan Avenue shopping short taxi ride away. Stay here! Also complimentary wine reception included in our stay.

We wanted a hotel in the Theatre District and this one was very centrally located. We took the South Shore Line in to the city and had a nice, easy walk to the hotel - less than 1/2 mile. We arrived early and our room was ready. It was small but very comfortable. We found plenty of nice little cafe style restauants close by. Night life was a bit quiet and not a lot open past 10 pm (after the show we wanted a bite to eat - nothing open except the adjoining bar). Other than that, very nice and will stay again.

Hotel was clean and neat, however rooms were not very big for the price. A pool/hot tub would be a good enhancement.

This was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. They people were all very friendly and helpful. The room was a great size and the bed was extremely comforatable. The bathroom was small, but workable. The only real down-side was that they do not offer a free breakfast like some hotels... They do have room service but it is very expensive. (I paid $14 for a slice of chocolate cake the size of my thumb, and it was disgusting)... However, there is a dunken doughnuts right around the corner so we went there for coffee in the morning. It is within walking-distance of the magnificent mile, the museuems, the parks, and the Pier. We did take cabs at night, but other than that we walked everywhere without a problem.

Althought this hotel met my expectations as far as location, cleanliness, etc. The room was very small considering the price I paid. I have stayed elsewhere for less and the rooms have been much bigger. That's probably a typical downtown hotel though.
